The Inner Cycle Hosts its 1st Spin-A-Thon Fundraiser
Sunday, April 1st, The Inner Cycle teamed up with Jack Edwards, the voice of the Boston Bruins, in our first ever Spin-A-Thon to raise money for the Boston Bruins Foundation Pan-Mass Challenge Team. The PMC donates 100% of every rider-raised dollar to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund. Last year it contributed $35 million to the cause! On Sunday, we proudly raised $3500 to add to this year’s total.
When Eric Tosi, a very close high school friend of Emily and I, and PR with the Bruins, approached us with the prospect of doing a fundraiser with Jack, an avid cyclist and repeat participant in the PMC, we were thrilled, nervous, and shocked. Really? THE Jack Edwards… wants to do a fundraiser at The Inner Cycle? After many telecons with Jack and lots of emails we organized the event for Sunday, April 1st. The Spin-A-Thon consisted of 4, 45-minute spin classes. Jack was down for all 4. Beginning at 1pm, and continuing on the hour, we had 4 sessions, separated by 15 minute breaks where riders could mingle with Jack, refuel with tasty eats kindly donated by Duckworth’s Bistrot, and energize with smoothie shots donated by Cabot Nutrition.
The riders were automatically entered to win the Grand Prize raffle item- a donation from the Bruins which was an autographed photo of the entire team on center ice following their Stanley Cup win. Other raffle items were donated by some of our local favorites. We are so thankful for all of those who graciously participated in the event. Whether you rode alongside Jack, or contributed in some other way with your time, services, or $$, we thank you. Be proud knowing that every dollar we raised gets us “one mile closer” to a cure for that beast of a disease that has affected us all in some way.
